The anatomy of interview bias

As the first stage in the hiring process where many protected characteristics become apparent, the interview is vulnerable to bias. The way a candidate presents themselves during this phase can wield a considerable impact on our judgment. From top to bottom, there exist numerous avenues through which we can create a marked (positive or negative) impression on a hiring manager.

This infographic sheds light on the various ways a candidate's appearance can unconsciously shape our evaluation of them during the interview phase. Additionally, we put forth a range of interventions that can effectively challenge these biases.
